About PenScanner

We believe every student deserves to access the written word.

PenScanner builds and evaluates reading technology for students who learn differently — students with dyslexia, English language learners, and anyone who finds reading on the page harder than it should be. Our devices and software are designed to support independence, not create dependency.

Our Mission

Make reading accessible to every student by removing barriers through technology that supports independence.

Every product decision and editorial guide at PenScanner is filtered through this lens. From hardware evaluations to pricing transparency to school partnerships, we ask: does this serve student independence?

Our Vision

A world where no student struggles with text, and every reader can approach any page with confidence.

We measure success not by features shipped, but by struggling readers who approach the next page, the next assignment, and the next standardized exam with genuine confidence.

Editorial Standards & Transparency

Editorial Independence & Affiliate Disclosure

PenScanner publishes independent research, comprehensive benchmarks, and clinical buyer guides covering optical character recognition (OCR) scanning pens, text-to-speech assistive technology, and structured literacy accommodations.

To fund our rigorous ongoing research, hardware benchmark labs, and educational guides without paywalls, PenScanner participates in select commercial affiliate partnerships, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases when readers purchase through tracking links (e.g. tag=thebest07bf-20) at zero additional cost to the buyer. We also maintain verified partnership channels with Scanmarker for official educational fulfillment and direct volume school procurement.

Our editorial rankings are strictly objective and grounded in clinical evidence (including Orton-Gillingham principles, IDEA guidelines, and exam-board compliance rules such as JCQ, SAT, and ACT). When a competitor tool (such as C-Pen Reader or OrCam Read) serves a specific learner profile or standardized testing environment better than parent products, we explicitly recommend that device. Commercial agreements never dictate our editorial verdicts.
